मुलांमध्ये लसीकरणानंतरच्या तापाचे व्यवस्थापन

Managing a mild fever after vaccination shows that your child’s immune system is busy building protection. In India, where we follow a packed immunization schedule, it helps to know why fevers happen, which shots are most likely to trigger them, and simple steps you can take at home to keep your little one comfortable.

लसीकरणानंतर शरीरात ताप येणं म्हणजे आपल्या बाळाच्या रोगप्रतिकारक शक्ती काम करत आहे असं समजून घ्या. भारतात आपला लसीकरणाचा कार्यक्रम खूप मोठा आहे, त्यामुळे कोणत्या लसींमुळे ताप येतो, का येतो, आणि ताप आल्यास आपण घरच्या घरी काय करू शकतो हे समजून घेतल्यास मन शांत राहतं.

Why vaccines sometimes cause fever
When a vaccine goes in, it introduces a harmless piece of a germ or a weakened germ. The body spots it as ‘foreign’ and turns on its defense system. That response releases natural chemicals called cytokines, which can raise body temperature. A slight fever confirms that your child’s immune army is gearing up to remember—and fight—the real bug in the future. By definition, a fever is a temperature of 38 °C or above.

लसीमुळे का ताप येतो
लस दिल्यानंतर शरीरात ती एक ‘परकी’ बाब समजली जाते. त्यावर प्रतिक्रिया म्हणून शरीरातील पेशींमधून सायटोकाइन्स नावाचे प्राकृतिक रसायन सुटतात, ज्यामुळे ताप वाढतो. साधा ताप यात नैसर्गिक परिणाम असतो आणि यामुळे रोगाशी लढण्याची आठवण तयार होते.

Shots most often linked to a fever
Not every vaccine carries the same fever risk. Inactivated vaccines such as those for diphtheria‑tetanus‑pertussis (DTP) or the pneumococcal conjugate (PCV) tend to cause fever within the first 48 hours in up to 10 percent of children. Live‑attenuated vaccines like measles‑mumps‑rubella (MMR) or varicella can produce a fever 5 to 14 days later in about 10 to 15 percent of recipients. The flu shot by itself rarely leads to high fever unless it’s given with DTP or PCV on the same visit.

जास्तीचा ताप होण्याची शक्यता असलेल्या लसी

• inactivated लसी (उदा. DTP, PCV): ही लस दिल्यानंतर पहिल्या दोन दिवसात सुमारे १० टक्के मुलांना ताप येतो.
• live‑attenuated लसी (उदा. MMR, varicella): या लसींमुळे लस घेतल्यापासून ५–१४ दिवसांनी सुमारे १०–१५ टक्के मुलांना ताप येऊ शकतो.
• फ्लू शॉट: स्वतः ते जास्त ताप निर्माण करत नाही, पण DTP किंवा PCV सोबत घेतल्यास तापाची शक्यता वाढू शकते.

Easy ways to manage fever and pain

1. Check the temperature with a digital thermometer. Note whether it’s axillary or oral.
2. Use paracetamol (acetaminophen) at 10 to 15 mg per kilogram every 4 to 6 hours as needed, up to four doses in 24 hours. Follow your product label or doctor’s advice.
3. Dress lightly and keep the room comfortably cool. A damp cloth on the forehead or body can help.
4. Offer fluids often, whether breast milk, formula, ORS, or water for older kids.
5. Skip preventive painkiller before shots. Giving medicines ahead of time may slightly blunt the immune response

ताप आणि वेदना कमी करण्याच्या सोप्या पद्धती

1. थर्मामीटरने ताप मोजा. अंपिट (बगल) किंवा तोंडातून ताप मोजण्याची कृती वर लिहून ठेवा.
2. पॅरासिटामॉल (acetaminophen) १०–१५ मि.ग्रा./किलो वजनानुसार ४–६ तासांनी द्या. २४ तासांत जास्तीत जास्त ४ डोस द्या.
3. हलके कपडे घाला आणि खोली थंड ठेवा. ओल्या बाफेचा कपडा माथ्यावर किंवा शरीरावर ठेवा.
4. पेयद्रव्यं वारंवार द्या, स्तनपान, फॉर्म्युला, ORS किंवा मोठ्या मुलांना पाणी द्या.
5. लस देण्यापूर्वी वेदनाशामक देऊ नका. आधीच औषध दिल्यास प्रतिकारशक्तीवर परिणाम होऊ शकतो.

When to check in with your doctor
• Fever over 39 °C that does not ease with two doses of paracetamol or lasts beyond 48 hours.
• Signs of an allergic reaction such as hives, swelling of face or lips, wheezing, or difficulty breathing.
• A febrile seizure (twitching or jerking limbs, loss of consciousness) even if brief.
• Injection site swelling that gets worse after 48 hours or oozes pus.

कधी डॉक्टरांचा सल्ला घ्यावा

• ताप ३९ °C पेक्षा जास्त आणि दोन डोस पॅरासिटामॉलनंतरही कमी होत नसेल किंवा ४८ तासांपेक्षा जास्त टिकून राहिला.
• त्वचेवर पिंगट, चेहरा-ओठ फुगणे, श्वास घेताना त्रास—अॅलर्जिक प्रतिक्रिया असं वाटल्यास.
• febrile seizure (अस्वस्थ हलणं, संज्ञान गमावणं) झाल्यास.
• टोचेवर सूज जास्त होणे, ४८ तासांनी पुस येणे.

A few extra tips
• Keep a small diary of reaction times and medicines given. It helps at follow‑up visits.
• Plan your next dose of paracetamol in advance so you don’t miss the window.
• Reassure yourself that mild fever and soreness are normal trade‑offs for strong, lasting protection against serious diseases.
• Talk to other parents in your community or online groups to share experiences and tips.

Remember, a little fever is a sign that the vaccine is doing its job. With these practical steps, you’ll help your child get through post‑vaccination fever comfortably—so they stay on track for a healthy, happy childhood.
